FIRST PLACE
Reading with Family
by Ross Morisette
Reading is fun for everyone.
Reading is better when it’s done with a loved one.
Reading with dad,
Can make you so glad.
We read books about sports, fishing and dirt bikes.
Dad and I sit in the chair,
And think about all the things we share.
Reading with mom,
Can be the bomb.
We read picture books, chapter books and more.
Mom said “follow my lead.”
And I practiced until I could read.
Reading with my brother,
Can be much funnier.
We read joke books, comic books and cheat code books.
When my mom walks by, we get that look.
And we say “What? At least we are reading a book.”
_____________
RUNNERS UP
Untitled
by Danielle Edwards
When we were young, we were shy
The world seems big and scary
When we read a book, we traveled to a different place.
Here we could be a prince or princess
We could swim with the mermaids,
Fly with fairies, or
Battle monsters and dragons.
When you opened a new book,
A new adventure started.
We would ride with cowboys or
Be with the dinosaurs!
Reading can take you places.
You could be waddling with penguins in Antarctica
To bulding pyramids in Egypt.
Reading a book,
We can travel to a different world.

Reading With a Loved One
by Allie Carley
Before going to sleep at night
Or reading in the morning
Reading with a loved one is very heart warming
Feeling sad or happy
Crying out loud or laughing
Reading with a loved one will brighten anyone's day
Sitting outside on a warm summer day
Or sitting by the fire in the chilly winter
Reading with a loved one will always be enjoyable
Being young or old
The memories of reading with a loved one will
always be in your heart.
